CX PROJECT GRANT SCHEME

Funding has been provided by NDA and Magnox Ltd through the "Beyond Chapelcross" programme to help businesses in Annandale and Eskdale to start up and develop their businesses.

The competitive discretionary grant is targeted at businesses that plan to undertake a business growth project and can clearly demonstrate a significant increase in business turnover and new job creation. This should be explained in the application, business plan and backed up by supporting financial information.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate evidence of need and have a proven track record of operating a successful business.

The grant scheme operates on a match funding basis with a limit of the CX Project scheme contribution being 20%-50% of the total project costs, up to 5,000 (up to a maximum 25,000 in exceptional growth circumstances).

Who is eligible?

The CX Project grant scheme is open to new (or at start up) and existing businesses in Annandale and Eskdale who are able to demonstrate a significant increase in business turnover and new job creation.


Key Objectives:

  • Support Business Growth -to ensure long term sustainability of the business and provide opportunities to improve productivity and efficiencies, competitiveness and innovation by allowing the business to accelerate their growth plans.
  • Unlock Potential to Find New Markets - to encourage opportunities to find customers outside Dumfries & Galloway
  • Research & Development - the development of new products or procedures, or to improvement of existing products or procedures to improve and provide further opportunities to grow the business.
  • Innovation -changing or creating more effective processes, products and ideas, which will have a positive impact on future profitability
  • Develop and Retain a Skilled Workforce - by recruitment of new staff and investing in the training and development of employees

Restrictions: Regrettably we cannot assist businesses solely in retailing, (see PDF for conditions), primary production (e.g. agriculture and fishing), private health care, property development and consultancies, or voluntary/charitable organisations

What should I do next?

Applicants will firstly be required to complete an Expression of Interest, which includes a brief description of your project, describing what you intend to use the funding for, and why funding is being sought. This should also outline the likely results and benefits this project would bring to your business and the local economy. .

Stage 2 of the process is to develop an up to date Business Plan with supporting financial information and recent accounts in the case of existing businesses. The CX Project team can provide you with guidance on what should be included. Need help to complete a Business Plan?

The Grant Process Explained:

Applications, once completed, are submitted to the CX Project Grants panel. Grants are discretionary and offers are based on the merits of the application and proposed project.
